Travis received his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2010. Upon graduating, he won a grant to work in Kenya for a summer on an indigenous rights case involving the Samburu people in coalition with the non-profit Cultural Survival and the Center for International Human Rights. After gathering evidence and testimony from witnesses, he was able partner with local government officials and an attorney to file a suit against the Kenyan government.
Travis then returned to Colorado to work for the firm of Wright & LaSalle, LLP as an associate attorney for the next two years. where he practiced civil litigation, family law, criminal law, real estate law, landlord-tenant law, business formation, and bankruptcy.
After finding he was able to attract a strong contingent of his own clients, Travis left the firm in late 2012 to start his own practice. Travis handled a diverse case load. While most of his cases were successfully resolved out of court, he was victorious both times he did go to court winning both a civil case and criminal jury trial.
Travis eventually moved to California where he was admitted to the California Bar in 2014. He maintained a small but steady clientele as his focus shifted to a career in film. He continues to incorporate his legal knowledge into his expanding career producing.
